Director of Small Groups and Adult Discipleship
In the context of a team of pastors, elders, and ministry leaders (staff and laity), the Director of Small Groups and Adult Discipleship will work to carry out the vision of the church to “Glorify God in Worship, Mission, and Discipleship.” His primary goal is to foster a community of disciples within Covenant Presbyterian Church (CPC) who walk faithfully with the Lord Jesus Christ and who proclaim Him to the world.
The Director of Small Groups and Adult Discipleship is overseen by, and reports to, the Session of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

- is committed to shared leadership (parity of the elders, collegial model of pastors).
- is committed to raising up others trained to lead and disciple for Kingdom advancement.
- is under Biblical authority, demonstrating joyful submission to other men.
- is in line with the system of doctrine laid out in our doctrinal standards (Westminster Confession of Faith, Westminster Shorter Catechism, and Westminster Longer Catechism).
- meets the biblical qualifications for the office of elder.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Small Groups
- Vision
- Along with the Small Group Leadership Team, develop and carry the vision for Small Groups that emphasizes Covenant’s mission of worship, mission, and discipleship.
- Lead and oversee the Small Group Leadership Team.
- Regularly develops new Small Groups.
- Small Group Leaders
- Recruit, train, support, encourage, and meet with Small Group leaders.
- Give direction, input, and suggestions about what to do in Small Groups, what to study, etc.
- Shepherd Small Group leaders through issues that may arise.
- Promotion
- Place the vision for the Small Group Ministry before the body on a regular basis.
- Visually promote the ministry through bulletin boards, narthex tables, etc.
- Written promotion through the bulletin, brochures, Clarion, letters, etc.
- Recruitment
- Weekly Sunday morning recruitment of participants and Small Group leaders
- Actively meet and invite every person in Welcome to Covenant Class (WCC) to be in a small group; help participants to connect to the Small Group Ministry.
2. Adult Discipleship (Study Fellowships and other)
- Study Fellowships
- Develop and implement a balanced curriculum that includes Scripture studies, theology and doctrinal studies, and other studies of practical theology.
- Recruit and oversee teachers.
- Encourage interactive teaching which will include discussion in large and small group settings.
- Plan room assignments and organize equipment needs.

- Lead and oversee adult discipleship ministry opportunities as needs and interests arise.
3. General Shepherding
- Intercessory prayer for CPC body
- Involvement in CPC church events
- Hospital and home visitation
