What style of worship/praise does your church have?  Our goal in worship is to engage both our hearts and minds with the intent of focusing heart-felt adoration toward our Lord. Musically we have a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary worship, as well as traditional hymn texts set to contemporary music. We use piano, guitar, and percussion and usually try to include other instruments such as flute, electric bass, and violin.

How should I dress? Our desire is for people to feel welcome at our church in whatever attire they feel most comfortable. Generally most people dress casually, although on most Sundays you will find congregants wearing everything from a three-piece suit, to shorts and flip-flops.

What is your service like? We don't have any fixed order or liturgy that we always use, but in general our services include a call to worship, prayer, musical praise time, reading of scriptures, and corporate confessions. We believe that the preaching of God's Word is central to all that we do, making the sermon an important part of every service.

Do I have to give money if I visit the church? Offering a portion of what we have earned back to God is an important part of worship, but as a visitor there is no expectation placed upon you to give to the work of Covenant Presbyterian. During the service an offering plate will be passed down the row--feel free to pass it on to the next person without obligation.

Do you serve communion? Yes. We celebrate two sacraments that Jesus instituted for the church: baptism and the Lord's Supper, or communion. Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month. Because it is the Lord's Table, we welcome all baptized Christians to receive communion with us, who are willing to forsake their sin and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and have been admitted to the Lord's Table at Covenant or any other Christian church. If this does not describe you, we ask you to let the elements pass you by.

Do you let children take communion? Our church doesn't set an age requirement on anyone to take part in communion, but we do ask that if you would like your children to participate, that they first meet with a church leader to talk about their faith in Christ and what communion means.

What do children do during the service? During 1st service and 2nd service, children three years old through Kindergarten are dismissed to Children's Church prior to the sermon. Children in 1st grade and up remain with their families for the entire service. We believe it is important for children to worship God alongside their families as they grow in their faith. We also recognize that every family is different and every child is different, so it is up to individual parents to determine how their children will participate in the service. (Click here for a map of current Sunday School and Children's Church classrooms.)

Do I have to send my child to Children's Church? No, many families keep their children with them for the entire service. We want to support you as you make decisions about the best way for your family to grow in faith.

What if my child makes too much noise? We are committed to having children participate in the church service, and we recognize at the same time that it can be difficult to keep little ones quiet and sitting still for a long period of time. We think that you will find Covenant to be a welcoming environment for your children, even when they struggle with "church behavior." Our nursery is offered for children under three years of age in order for parents to have more freedom to worship and learn.
