History

Covenant as a Mission Church

Summer 1983 - Someone placed a note in the offering plate at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville requesting a church in Harrisonburg.

Winter/Spring 1984 - Sunday evening services are held at Sheraton (Four Points).

June 1984 - Sunday morning services are held at Sheraton (Four Points).

 

Covenant as a Particular Church

June 1985 - Covenant is particularized with 52 charter members.

September 1985 - Covenant is received into the Presbyterian Church in America with three elders and five deacons.

November 1985 - Worship services moved from Sheraton (Four Points) to the Seventh Day Adventist building on Rt. 33 West

November 1990 - Worship service moved from the Seventh Day Adventist to Blue Ridge Christian School building in Bridgewater

Spring 2000 - Broke ground for construction of our current facility on Mosby Rd., Harrisonburg

February 2001 - Worship services are held in the new building on Mosby Rd., Harrisonburg

 

Covenant as an Equipping Church

March 2002 - Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, a Covenant church plant, begins worship services in Augusta Co.

October 2002 - The first meeting of the Blue Ridge Presbytery is held.  The BRP extends from Winchester to Draper Valley.

December 2004 - Alianza, our Spanish worship service, begins.

January 2009 - Christ Presbyterian Church, a Covenant church plant, begins worship in downtown Harrisonburg. 

December 2010 - Children's Wing completed.
